I love the great state of Colorado and try every chance I can to visit. During a summer trip in 2021, while staying near the town of Mancuso, which is close to Mesa Verde National Park, the view from our particular cabin was incredible. Every evening I sat staring at the mountains and listening to the wind whipping through the canyons. There's nothing like a Colorado evening with sounds, wind, colors, and smells to ease your mind and connect you with the great beyond. A very slow melody began running through my mind about the wind. I didn't think too much about it at the time and headed to bed but that's when things got interesting. As I was falling asleep the tune came back around, but wasn't slow at all this time. The song all of a sudden had a snappy tempo and woke me up. I stumbled to the front couch where my guitar lay. I grabbed my phone and started recording and singing what would become "The Wind is Whistlin' Your Name." This is one of those tunes that I had to put some serious time and rewrites into. You know, that one verse that just isn't right and nags me relentlessly. I never care though, it takes as long as it takes. I just want the song to flow and feel good to me. I'll work on a line, verse, chorus, and bridge as long as it takes.
I love how this tune came together and that Reid Murphy sang with me. I had to do a little coaxing, but I love what he did. His musical talents are boundless. Not only did he sing with me, but he produced, arranged and played all of the instruments/tracks. It's not lost on me, I'm one lucky person to have Reid working with me. The same goes for Brent Ronen who does all of my master mixing. These two guys are exceptional musicians and I'm fortunate to get to work with them.
I hope that you enjoy this cute tune. Who knows, maybe it will put a smile on your face. Thanks for all of your support and for listening. I'm forever grateful to each of you!
